Food & Drink
Whitehorse has a surprisingly diverse food scene, from neighbourhood favourites and local brewpubs to Korean, Japanese, Indian and some excellent pizza. Here are a few of our favourite places to eat and drink around town.
Yukon Bunsik
A small Korean restaurant tucked away on the second floor above Shoppers Drug Mart in downtown Whitehorse. Yukon Bunsik serves excellent bibimbap, house-made kimchi, Korean sushi and other favourites.
Dirty Northern
A lively Main Street bar with a bit of a big-city vibe. Monday is especially popular for half-price pizza, so expect it to be busy and don't be surprised if there's a lineup. Who can resist half-price pizza?
Wood Street Ramen
A great downtown choice for ramen and Thai-inspired dishes. Portions are hearty, the noodles are delicious and it's an especially satisfying stop after a day outside.
Kita, Golden Sakura & Asahiya
Three Japanese restaurants in downtown Whitehorse. Take your pick — they're all good options when you're in the mood for Japanese food.
Taj Mahal
Located in the Skky Hotel across from the airport, Taj Mahal serves a wide selection of flavourful Indian dishes and is an easy option close to Black Spruce.
Airport Chalet
A down-to-earth local favourite opposite the airport serving hearty, straightforward fare. Locals gather here for food and drinks, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of the old roadside restaurant hotels that once dotted the Alaska Highway.
Woodcutter's Blanket
A small, lively brewpub set inside a former trapper's store. Stop in for house-made beer, cocktails and food in a cozy setting that's often bustling. Well worth a visit.
Joe's Wood Fired Pizza
Joe's serves delicious wood-fired pizza in downtown Whitehorse. In our opinion, it's the best pizza in town!
Fireweed Community Market — Summer Only
On Thursday evenings during the summer, a good portion of Whitehorse seems to descend on the local farmers' market. You'll find plenty of food vendors and food trucks serving some of the city's most creative and tasty fare.
Food Trucks — Summer Only
Keep an eye out for Whitehorse's food trucks around the city throughout the week. Two of our favourites are Azhong Noodles for hand-pulled noodles and Street of Kerala for Indian cuisine.
Bullet Hole Bagels
Fresh handmade bagels in Horwoods Mall, behind Baked Café, and definitely worth a stop. Grab a bagel sandwich, try the creative weekly special and pick up a fresh six-pack for later.
Gather Café
An eclectic and beautiful little spot for a tasty meal or cocktail beside the glassblowing studio. The space is small, so arrive early if you'd like a seat. Better yet, sign up for a glassblowing workshop and finish the afternoon with something delicious next door.
Desycan
Our top choice for East Indian food in Whitehorse. The Chole Kulche is a favourite for a quick snack, but there's plenty more on the menu worth trying.
